YMCA Closing

YMCA Closing

***RSVP for Church Wide Meeting HERE!

Good Afternoon Church Family!

Many of you have now heard that the YMCA at The Factory is closing its doors. This news was received by the YMCA early Friday morning, June 23, and confirmed early Tuesday morning, June 27. Our staff has worked closely with the YMCA over the past three years. Throughout this brief process of announcing the closure, Walt Reynolds (Branch Director for The Factory and Kerr Family YMCA) and I have been working together to formulate a plan for both the members of the YMCA and the members of Restoration Church.

My desire this week has been to serve the leaders of the YMCA as much as humanly possible. In our conversation on Tuesday morning, I offered to proceed slowly in sending this announcement to our church, in order that the YMCA could honor their members by making sure they heard the news from them first. Once the news was made public to their members, I would then notify the members of our church. My reason for this was to serve the YMCA and consider their “interests above my own.” Yesterday, June 29, the YMCA released this letter to the public:

Dear YMCA Friend,

For the last ten years, the YMCA has proudly served the community through programs at the YMCA at The Factory in Wake Forest. Two years ago, The Factory was sold to an out-of-state investment group. For more than a year, the YMCA has been in negotiations with the group regarding our lease agreement. During this time, we worked diligently to reach an agreement that would allow us to maintain our YMCA service at The Factory.

On June 23, representatives from The Factory notified us that they leased the space to another tenant, and we must leave the premises by the end of July. Regrettably, our last day of operation at The Factory will be July 23.

The YMCA is committed to continuing our service in Wake Forest and we are currently looking for another location. YMCA members, you continue to have access to all YMCA of the Triangle branches. The nearest branch to the YMCA at The Factory is the Kerr Family YMCA at 2500 Wakefield Pines Drive, Raleigh 27614. For other branch locations, visit our website.

If you have any questions, please contact Kerr Family YMCA Executive Director Walt Reynolds at 919-562-9608 or Associate Branch Director Shannon Young at 919-562-6000.

Sincerely,

Tracy Howe, Chief Operating Officer (YMCA of the Triangle)

You may be wondering how this affects us at Restoration. As subtenants to the YMCA, we will no longer be able to meet at our current location beginning at the end of July. This is a good time to remind you of last Sunday’s message on hope: “We hope when we trust God with great expectation.” I hope you see the sovereign and providential hand of God in this. Although this news may shock us, scare us, concern us, and catch us off guard, I assure you, the Lord knows exactly what He is doing. AND He is fully capable and competent to see us through all of these changes.

Where do we go from here? Our staff has worked together to develop a transitional plan. We are currently exploring our options and praying through them. Our staff would love to request your presence at a church wide meeting on Tuesday, July 11th at 6:30pm. We will meet at Heritage Baptist Church (located behind The Factory). Understanding the importance of this time together, we will provide childcare for those who need it. Please RSVP here so that we can best prepare for your presence.

Keeping Jesus First,

Trea Brinson, Pastor
