Women’s Discipleship – Book Study
The new year brings new goals and new changes. We look at the previous year to see how far we’ve come or decide what we want to do differently. We make those resolutions by coming up with a plan that we will finally stick to. After all, it’s tradition!
But how many of us beat ourselves up when we fall off the wagon or can’t even get on the wagon in the first place? It turns into another let down and another reminder our failures. A dream of perfection we’re striving for that we just can’t seem to reach.
Well, let me encourage you with this bit of good news – God is perfect and we are not. God is in control and we are not. God is self-sufficient and we are… you guessed it, Not! When we rest in His presence to enjoy His love and care for us, we can relax and let go of this “dangling carrot” the enemy likes to use this time of year. Let’s stay focussed on who God is rather than who we think we need to be. Let’s turn our time and attention to the only One who can change us into His image.
We’d like to invite all Restoration Women to join us to study a book that takes our attention off of ourselves and refocuses it back to God.
Jen Wilkin is an author for the Gospel Coalition and has written a book called “None Like Him – 10 Ways God is Different from Us and Why that’s a Good Thing”. Our limitations are by design. We were never meant to be God. But at the root of every sin is our rebellious desire to possess attributes that belong to God alone. Calling us to embrace our limits as a means of glorifying God’s limitless power, Jen Wilkin invites us to celebrate the freedom that comes when we rest in letting God be God.
We have groups that will be meeting different times throughout the week so that all our women have an opportunity. Please contact the group leader for more information.
